HAPPY CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR!

Wow, how has 12 months gone so fast! It’s unbelievable that only last November in 2015 we started working on our camp and started getting everything ready for the Spring season and had our fingers crossed for future guests to arrive. The wait and build up to the season was very frantic and it was a very busy year, with getting the business conceived, website up and running, finding great partners and then waiting and hoping that some guests would arrive! We could not be happier with how our first season went, although it was not so busy, we simply had the best guests come and stay with us and it was a great time spent with them and even a learning experience for ourselves! We would like to say a massive THANK YOU to all our excellent and wonderful guests! We hope all of our guests, partners, friends and family all have a MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🙂

DURMITOR FOODIES

Zabljak is a great place to visit for food lovers, with plenty of excellent restaurants and cafes offering up great cuisines with different and varied tastes! There are many places to chose to eat, offering national cuisine restaurants, modern restaurants with modern menus and fast food, although most Montenegrin’s prefer ‘slow food’! 🙂 Typically you will find hearty mountain foods, which are meant to keep local people going throughout the year; this is normally meat based dishes, with local organic ingredients. The national cuisine of ‘ispod saca’ is slow cooked braised meats of tender lamb or veal with potatoes, the cooking process takes a few hours where the meats juices are infused with the potatoes and vegetables in a clay earth pot. This dish is served to our guests on our Lake and Canyon tour and it was a real hit with everyone! Our guests also enjoyed the food offered for free in Zabljak, this was the many berries available on treks, such as forest strawberries, black berries, blue berries and raspberries. Also Zabljak has many varied mushrooms which can be picked, and our guests made some wonderful dishes in the evening time at the camp, which were of course washed down with glasses of mulled wine!

BEAUTIFUL LAKES!

The national park of Durmitor is of course famous for it’s stunning and breathtaking mountains, however it also has some beautiful and stunning lakes to discover! Indeed the Black Lake is the premium tourist attraction of the Durmitor area and it is the largest and the best known of 18 glacial lakes on the mountain. The lake is easily accessible, as it is within walking distance from our camp, almost like it is in our backyard! A 3.5 km walking path circles around the entire lake, and it is a popular destination for all recreational activities.  Our guests went there to relax, swim, meditate, rent kayaks and enjoy trekking. Many mountain trails lead from the lake to other smaller lakes around Zabljak and other mountain peaks. The lakes are the perfect place to visit during the warm and hot summer months, when guests can be adventorous and take swims and dips, as did a few of our brave hearted guests this summer! The lakes offer us a great feeling of being by the water and when out with our guests on activities we tried to take all our breaks by lakes, for their calm and relaxing settings. The lakes are also full of wildlife and last season we saw snakes, ducks, fish, crabs and frogs. We’ve attached all photos from guests for you to enjoy!
